MGSU spring players honored

Middle Georgia State women’s tennis layers Sandra Recuenco Tarin and Len Golz and men’s players Martin Carrizo and Daniel Garcia Suarez were named NAIA All-Americans this week.

Carrizo made the first team, the other three Knights the second team.

Marina Prieto Gonfaus was named the Southern States athletic Conference women’s tennis scholar-athlete of the year

Veterans alum Jacob Pierce along with Seth Darling and Adam Alicea-Brooks were named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Alicea Brooks and Ryan Wilson were named to the SSAC baseball scholar-athlete team.

Beth Eddins, Sarah Latham, Gabbie Haas, and Morgan Windham were named NAIA scholar-athletes for softball.

Georgia College tennis players cited

Rodrigo Perez Crespo and Enzo Sergi were named to the CSC Academic All-District team in men’s tennis, with Shradha Chhabra, Ashton Morrison, and Chiara Santoro from the women’s team earning the same honor.

Here are updated and final results for Central Georgia golfers and teams from this week’s GHSA state tournaments throughout Georgia.

Results during the tournament are available only on a paid phone application. The GHSA posted the full scores for the public on its site on Thursday. Some information was posted Wednesday on The Central Georgia Sports Report.

Georgia Southern rallies late for SBC Tourney win
The Eagles tied it in the fifth and outscored Old Dominino 5-1 in the final few innings for an 8-6 win in the Sun Belt Tournament.
Georgia Southern plays the JMU-ODU winner at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The first three batters in the bottom of the sixth reached, on a single, hit batter, and walk, two coming in for the lead on Sam Blancato’s single to left. GSU was then retired in order.
Georgia Southern added one in the seventh and two in the eighth, surviving three errors.
Blancato drove in five runs on three hits, scoring twice. S. Smith added two hits and TJ McKenzie two RBI.
